During the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning has become an urgent necessity, highlighting the importance of digital education, particularly when social distancing is essential for saving lives. However, the inequality in access to educational technologies in Brazil exposes the difficulties faced by many students, demonstrating that simply having access to technology does not guarantee a significant improvement in teaching and learning processes. Given this scenario, it is crucial to promote a debate on strategies that can be used both in online and offline environments, providing educators with a solid foundation to enhance their pedagogical practices. One such strategy is gamification, which involves the use of game elements in non-playful contexts to engage students in the learning process. Gamification holds potential for creating an "optimal" learning experience, especially at a time when rethinking the school routine is necessary.
Ricardo Barbosa Bitencourt Copyright (c) 2024 Ricardo Barbosa Bitencourt http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 816 823 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.816-823 Unveiling the Voices of Z-Generation Students about the Good Classroom https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/946
This article aims to verify which factors can be considered a good class for the students of Generation Z, investigating, therefore, the integrated technicians of a Campus of the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG). For this, a mixed approach of descriptive nature was used, using documents and questionnaires, which were analyzed according to content analysis and multivariate statistics. The results show three significant dimensions associated with a good class from the student's perspective: class planning, class conduct, and teacher behavior. These dimensions reflect the teacher's daily practice, allowing them to insert the digital native into their teaching practice. As a main theoretical contribution, the article will enable us to understand that Generation Z is not a homogeneous group, which entails different perspectives on a suitable classroom. As a practical contribution, this study helps professors develop their classes.
Luiz Guilherme Rodrigues Antunes Ana Paula da Costa Cardoso Niltom Vieira Júnior Hamilton Luiz Corrêa Copyright (c) 2024 Luiz Guilherme Rodrigues Antunes, Ana Paula da Costa Cardoso, Niltom Vieira Júnior, Hamilton Luiz Corrêa http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 824 837 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.824-837 Level of Financial Literacy and Socioeconomic Characteristics: https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1010
This study sought to identify the level of financial literacy and possible relationships with the socioeconomic characteristics of high school students in a municipality in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. The sample corresponded to 83 public and private high school students. The approach method used was qualified as hypothetical-deductive and the analysis techniques adopted were descriptive statistics of the data and the Kruskal-Wallis and Chi-square tests with their respective post-hoc, the Dunn test and the residuals test adjusted, considering that they are more adequate to the data and to the achievement of the objective. The results indicated better levels of financial literacy among students, compared to the national average of PISA 2015. As for the relationships between socioeconomic characteristics and financial literacy, assessed in questions grouped by level and perspectives, it was found that gender, Age and educational attainment of students and their parents significantly related to the level of financial literacy. It was found, in summary, that students in more advanced years presented better performances. One of the areas that accompany these transformations is education, which has been adapting and reinventing, moving in step with social changes, especially those related to the world of work. Given this context, this bibliographic study, with a descriptive and exploratory approach, is justified, aiming to understand the process of inclusion of Digital Information and Communication Technologies – TDIC in the context of Brazilian higher education with the presentation of the possibilities and challenges to its inclusion and use. Counting on reference authors, such as CASTELLS (2005), BELUCE et al. (2021), BELUZZO (2018), LEVY (1999) and VELOSO (2006), the study concluded that the authors unanimously recognized the growth in the use of technology in the spheres of social life, including education. At a higher level, it is understood that there is an emerging need to explore technologies as teaching strategies, aiming to access information and obtain knowledge, according to Beluce et al. [2021]. The summary of the study points to information and knowledge as protagonists in the face of social demands. However, there are challenges in adopting TDIC in light of the expectations of students who are part of different social and cultural realities.
Juliana Isabele Gomes Probst Candiotto Silva Eliza Adriana Sheuer Nantes Copyright (c) 2024 Juliana Isabele Gomes Probst Candiotto Silva http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 905 913 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.905-913 Play as a Learning Resource for Literacy Skills: https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1160
The main objective of this research is to analyze the impact of game-based learning on literacy. They are often the subject of debates about their integration into didactic-pedagogical contexts in school institutions, since they exert pressure for changes in the teaching model, aiming to improve the quality of education. In this sense, with this work we seek to expose results of a bibliographic investigation of the "state of the art" type and of a qualitative nature, with the objective of identifying, selecting and discussing data from professional master's dissertations that resulted, as educational products, in the development of mobile applications aimed at basic level mathematics education, having as a time frame research completed from 2010 until the end of 2022. The question that guides this research is the following: what is the incidence of the production of mobile applications as educational objects in the context of Professional Masters?. Data collection was carried out in the repositories of the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the Portal of Educational Products and Objects (eduCAPES) in which descriptors were used combined with the Boolean operator “AND”. The returned results allowed us to select four academic productions and their educational products framed in criteria that value the objective of this work and within the theme addressed. Despite the strong discussion about the use of mobile technologies in education, the productions are still few, within the scope of professional master's degrees, and lacking in consistency and methodological refinement, revealing that there is a need to develop more studies that explore this field of knowledge.
Marcos Fernandes Sobrinho Wanderson de Souza Silva Copyright (c) 2024 Marcos Fernandes Sobrinho http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 927 942 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.927-942 Qualitative Evaluation of Menu Preparations of a University Restaurant in the Interior Of Goiás https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1225
Preparations of a lunch menu at a university restaurant in the state of Goiás were qualitatively evaluated. Preparations of 169 days were evaluated using the Qualitative Evaluation of Menu Preparations (QEMP) method and classified according to positive and negative aspects. For positive and negative aspects, those that were classified as “excellent” were the absence of frying-based preparations (100%), the presence of fruits and leafy vegetables (94%), the offer of fatty meats 9% of the days, sweets in 1% of the days, the absence of sweets associated with fried foods and offer of brown rice and vegetarian option with 100% occurrence for both. The association between acidic juice and acidic fruit and preserves in the salad appeared on 14% of the days, classified as “good”, while preparations with the same colors were present on 33% of the days, classified as “regular”. The supply of foods rich in sulfur (71%) and carbohydrate-based garnishes (53%) were classified as “bad”. And the presence of regional foods was the only one classified as “terrible”, with presence in 8% of the days. The large offer of fruits, leafy vegetables, brown rice, vegetarian option concomitant with the low occurrence of sweets, fried foods and acidic juices associated with acidic fruits point to an excellent quality of menu. However, the results regarding the appearance foods of same color, rich in sulfur, fatty meats, regional foods and carbohydrate-based preparations reveal the weaknesses of the menu offered, requiring a review of these aspects, in order to better serve diners.
Graciele Cristina Silva Leão Isabella Lopes Giovanaz Luísa Pereira Marot Laura Cristina Tibiletti Balieiro Copyright (c) 2024 Graciele Cristina Silva Leão, Isabella, Luisa, Laura http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 943 950 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.943-950 Locomotomic: https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1146
This research presents the development of a Virtual Reality (VR) application focused on education in human anatomy called Locomotomic. Indeed, it is understood that the need for innovation in the field of education is an urgent matter. In this sense, the development of technologies that provide new means of learning becomes increasingly relevant, especially in situations where in-person practical teaching is impractical. The proposed solution consists of creating a low-cost virtual human anatomy laboratory that allows simulating the experience of practical classes. To achieve this goal, research was conducted to identify desirable characteristics in a virtual anatomy laboratory in the healthcare field. Additionally, a descriptive approach was used to establish the appropriate content to be addressed in the virtual laboratory, focused on the human locomotor system. The implementation of the virtual laboratory was carried out based on the JavaScript programming language and the Kodular platform. The results demonstrate that the implementation of a VR laboratory for anatomy education can generate significant savings in infrastructure costs in public universities. Furthermore, the developed application will contribute to democratizing access to information, making practical work more accessible to a greater number of users. Additionally, there will be benefits in reducing the costs associated with acquiring cadavers for practical laboratories and maintaining physical facilities in public educational institutions. In the scientific realm, this research will have a positive impact by democratizing access to knowledge and facilitating practical work for students in the healthcare field. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to explore the advantages and potential of VR in education, significantly enriching the practical learning process. Therefore, this work will contribute to advances in the field of Information Systems (IS) applied to education, offering an efficient and affordable alternative for human anatomy education.
Kauane Lysien Costa Ferreira Andrea Teresa Riccio Barbosa Copyright (c) 2024 Kauane Lysien Costa Ferreira, Andrea Teresa Riccio Barbosa http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 951 969 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.951-969 Reflections about a Scientific Dissemination Web Conference on Astrobiology https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/963
This article aims to investigate the realization of the web conference entitled “Search for biosignatures on planetary surfaces” given by Professor Douglas Galante, in 2021. Two didactic sequences were applied: one called Traditional Classroom (TC) and the other Flipped Classroom (FC). The students who were taught through FC dedicated more time to their studies, presenting greater ease to learn the contents. Some reported difficulty managing study time due to balancing study and work, and they had significantly higher scores than the students of the TC. We concluded that the FCM is effective in teaching genetics. However, the reality of many high school students from public schools includes the need to work to complement the family income, which can become an obstacle for the students’ full development and motivation through this methodology.
Ludmila Pereira do Nacimento Dirce Ribeiro de Oliveira Leandro Roberto de Macedo Antônio Frederico de Freitas Gomides Copyright (c) 2024 Ludmila Pereira do Nacimento, Dirce Ribeiro de Oliveira, Leandro Roberto de Macedo, Antônio Frederico de Freitas Gomides http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 987 998 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.987-998 Imbrications Between External Evaluations and Basic Education Quality https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1051
External evaluations, elaborated by the Brazilian Ministry of Education, have been applied over the last 30 years with the announced objective of collecting and analyzing data related to students’ performance and school dropout. With the advancement of both the scope and the capillarity of these evaluations, the data they produced began to guide public policies and actions of accountability in education, in addition to serving as instruments for regulating curricula and school management and as indicators of the quality of education offered. Thus, the objective of this article is to analyze the imbrications between external evaluations and quality of education, in a sample of 18 articles from the Brazilian Journal of Education Policy and Administration, in the period between 2000 and 2019. It represents part of a qualitative, documentary research, which had content analysis as a method. In this sense, the Brazilian Chronicle, understood as a social genre, was used in a multimedia interface with photography in order to structure an interventional proposition that, in addition to mobilizing linguistic knowledge in its pragmatic use, would provide potential for critical and autonomous expression in school contexts. Additionally to creative production, the social circulation of the produced texts was also promoted as the last stage of intervention, avoiding the practice of “school simulation”, in which the texts are produced as a mere internal exercise. The resulting analysis from this intervention process, which was the core of this work, indicates an important consideration of creative writing practices in the constitution of a critical language teaching. The effect of acquiring linguistic knowledge – such as the use of figures of speech – and theoretical-literary knowledge – such as the aesthetic mediation of literature in relation to the world – proved not only effective from the school “content-oriented” point of view, but also highly emancipatory in terms of educational background.
Pedro Verdejo Inaiá Isis Dantas Rosa Copyright (c) 2024 Pedro Verdejo, Inaiá Isis Dantas Rosa http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 1022 1035 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.1022-1035 Production on Interdisciplinarity in Technical Professional Education in High School Level: https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1103
. This article aims to analyse the Brazilian scientific production on interdisciplinarity related to secondary technical professional education in the first decade of the 21st century, the same period of the first legislation that addressed the theme in the country. This research is of an exploratory nature, with a bibliographic analysis of a qualitative and quantitative basis and of a basic nature, through the survey and selection of theses and dissertations using the search portal of the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD). It was identified that the surveys were carried out in different Postgraduate Programs and Institutions concentrated in the Southeast region, most of which are public. Interdisciplinarity was addressed in different topics such as: teaching methods; interdisciplinary projects; interactions between different disciplines; PPCs; among others. Most of the works addressed interdisciplinarity based on the conception of the philosophy of the subject, in the same way that the most cited authors in the studies are affiliated with such conception, however, superficially in a significant part of the research. In addition, a hybridity was found between the two conceptions – philosophy of the subject and criticism – of interdisciplinarity and the perspective of curricular integration.
Luiz Fernando Nunes Rocha Augusto César Vilela Gama Josiane dos Santos Lima Néri Emílio Soares Júnior Copyright (c) 2024 Luiz Fernando Nunes Rocha, Augusto César Vilela Gama, Josiane dos Santos Lima, Néri Emílio Soares Júnior http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 1036 1049 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.1036-1049 Vocational and Technological Education: https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1109
Vocational and technological education (VTE) serves as a significant avenue for workforce integration. University students with a stronger sense of belonging tend to exhibit greater motivation, academic self-assurance, higher academic participation, and better performance. The present study involved 335 participants from 13 academic departments across five universities. For data analysis, the researcher utilized the varimax rotation method to conduct Principal Component Analysis (PCA) as part of the factor analysis. The findings revealed that academic and social engagement independently influence students’ sense of belonging and retention. By examining critical disadvantage factors, such as social class, age, and nationality, this research study fills a gap in the existing literature on the relationship between these factors and the sense of belonging and retention in higher education. By providing insights into the significance of a sense of belonging in university, this research study offers practical implications for new researchers, enabling them to explore the potential benefits of fostering a stronger sense of belonging among students. Such benefits include greater motivation, academic self-assurance, increased academic participation, and improved overall performance. Future researchers can Conduct qualitative and longitudinal studies to provide a deeper understanding of the long-term effects of students’ sense of belonging on their academic performance, persistence, and overall well-being.
Nadia Rehman Amir Mahmood Irum Andleeb Mussarat Iqbal Xiao Huang Copyright (c) 2024 Nadia Rehman, Amir Mahmood, Irum Andleeb, Mussarat Iqbal, Xiao Huang http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 1067 1082 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.1067-1082 Teaching, Learning and Assessment during Covid-19: https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1141
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought extraordinary challenges and has affected the educational sectors in all ramifications. This, therefore calls for the need to sustain and provide quality education despite its challenges and forced many institutions to reposition their educational practices which predominantly adopted the conventional methods of teaching and learning, as well as assessment which was on venue-based and restricted in terms of online accessibility, swiftness, assessment and materials interaction. In the methodological approach, a bibliographical review was carried out in scientific articles and the use of technological prospecting methods in the search for anteriority and similarity, aiming to cover nationally and internationally, in the patent databases and computer programs of the European Patent Office (ESPACENET), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI), with the use of Boolean descriptors and operators. The systematization analyzed the pertinence with the theme, excluding patents without relevance with the filters performed, patents repeated in the databases and those that do not have a deposit record. Thus, this work aimed to observe the gaps regarding the registration of patents and computer programs in official bodies on systems and applications intended for the educational area, assisting in decision-making with the mapping of existing technologies deposited in official bodies and encouraging for the improvement and development of education. The results obtained showed a constant growth in the number of patents granted over the years, with the largest domain of specific deposits for the basic education area of China (68.75%), which reflects being the country that presents the best index in PISA 2018 (Program for International Student Assessment). On the other hand, Brazil, which has the second highest number of patents granted (6.73%), either by patents or by computer programs, after data mining, is in 53rd place in the PISA 2018 evaluation. In this way it was also possible to observe a gap between the TMDICs that allow interaction in collaborative activities between students, teachers, and legal guardians in the process of meaningful learning. In this way, the need for more encouragement for TMDICs, public educational policies and the effective participation of society and family in school units, especially in public schools, is demonstrated.
Arlindo Gomes de Macêdo Junior Murilo Silva Rebouças Copyright (c) 2024 Arlindo Gomes de Macêdo Junior, Murilo Silva Rebouças http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 1160 1167 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.1160-1167 A Bibliometric Analysis of Paper in the Area of Wind, Weibull, Hydrogen and Homer Software Based on Scopus https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1250
Green hydrogen has become the center of attention on the world stage, with its high efficiency and production versatility, where more and more studies are produced related to this topic. The author chooses a name for his heroes not accidentally: the anthroponym helps to characterize the hero's age, his class and social status. Anthroponyms have a certain stylistic coloring that helps to express the author's emotional attitude both to the hero and to the situation in which this or that character acts. The etymological meaning of the name carries some kind of information, the meaning of which helps to comprehend the idea of a work of art at all semantic levels, including the ontological one. This article analyzes the stories "Dagger" and "Bronze Bird" by A. Rybakov, as well as "Green Van" by A. Kozachinsky. The general scientific methods and the study of the onomastic series of these stories allows us to come to the following conclusions: a proper name in a literary text carries certain informative, emotional-stylistic and ideological-artistic meanings, the understanding and comprehension of which contributes to a deeper reading of the work.
Elena Panova Elena Tjumentseva Natalya Bocharnikova Natalia Filimonova Elena Romanyuk Zulkhumar Jumanova Julia Lobanova Ilona Koroleva Copyright (c) 2024 Elena Panova, Elena Tjumentseva, Natalya Bocharnikova, Natalia Filimonova, Elena Romanyuk, Zulkhumar Jumanova, Julia Lobanova, Ilona Koroleva http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-03-19 2024-03-19 16 4 1197 1207 10.14571/brajets.v16.n4.1197-1207 The Impact of Internal and External Factors on the Impairment of Goodwill https://brajets.com/index.php/brajets/article/view/1359
This study analyzes the influence of external and internal factors on the goodwill impairment of Russian IT-companies.
