The integration of Ukrainian institutions of higher education into the global educational space presents both challenges and opportunities. This study aims to characterize the integration process, identify challenges, and explore opportunities for overcoming them. Statistical data from Quacquarelli Symonds educational institution rankings for 2022 and global rankings, including the Education Index and Education Expenditure as a percentage of GDP for 2022, were utilized. Qualitative data were collected through a search in scholarly databases such as Ebsco, Google Scholar, PubMed, and WoS. The results showed that the integration of Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions into the global education space faces several challenges, including limited experience in international cooperation and participation in European educational programs, as well as inadequate preparation for project proposal submissions and a low level of proficiency in foreign languages, particularly English. Additionally, insufficient financial support for international projects hinders the modernization of Ukraine's higher education system and the enhancement of workforce training quality. Despite these challenges, Ukrainian HEIs have significant potential for development and competitiveness enhancement through cooperation with European and international partners. In conclusion it is shown that to ensure successful integration, Ukraine should increase the state's role in stimulating international cooperation among HEIs and provide necessary support.References
