Abstract

Ethnography is the appropriate method for the study of the expression of temporality in an oral corpus. It was demonstrated when a methodology based on Onomasiologic approach and the theory of the functionalsemantic fields was elaborated. It was applied to analyze the expression of anteriority to the moment of speaking in the Spanish spoken in Cuba, it allowed to characterize it not only in its form, but also its frequency of use. As a result, it was shown that in spanish the temporal references are made up by verbs and other elements that give temporal information and that the discursive situation is in the first place among the other elements that determine the interval between the event and the moment of speaking.
