This work aims to promote the reflection on the importance of the computer in the school to potentiate the formation of subjects in a society marked by technological advances and overcoming the rigidity and scarcity characterized by traditional models. It discusses the presence of the computer in the school as a space of construction of knowledge and as support, which adds pedagogical possibilities, therefore the use of the computational tools in the school only makes sense if it is to maximize possibilities of human formation. It highlights the insertion of the educational laptops of the "One Computer Per Student" Program - Prouca, with the perspective of reflecting on some results of this process. The discussion of the content happens in a qualitative approach, making use of bibliographical research as a theoretical basis. The results of this approach lead us to believe that, by using computers at school, significant human training actions can be promoted through a partnership between all bodies responsible for education, which together should ensure that schools have technological equipment, and execution of significant practices centered in the knowledge construction by the students.Downloads
