Introduction: The choice of assessment methods must take into account which approach best suits the competencies being measured. Miller's Pyramid is a conceptual model that can facilitate this choice. Objective: The main objective of this study is to clarify the use of Miller's Pyramid in the assessment of individuals, through an integrative literature review. Methodology: This article is an integrative literature review using the PICO strategy. The bibliographic survey was carried out on the CAPES Journals Portal, the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and SCOPUS (Elsevier). The descriptors chosen from the controlled vocabulary of the Brazilian Education Thesaurus were used in English, with the following combinations: “Miller's pyramid” AND assessment, “Miller's pyramid” AND learning and “Miller's pyramid” AND learning AND assessment. Results: 250 articles were initially found, of which 09 were chosen for this review. Conclusion: It was concluded that Miller's pyramid has the function of assisting in different studies, using its conceptual model that illustrates the cognitive and behavioral bases of professional practice with the need to assess skills and competencies, being of great interest in clinical areas. As a result, Miller's pyramid appears to be a promising tool for evaluation processes, given its different levels of competence, as it helps to ensure that future professionals not only master knowledge, but also know how to apply it in practice and are competent in their professional work.
