BIGOREXIA IN A GROUP OF BODYBUILDING ATHLETS IN GOIÁS (BRAZIL): A CASE STUDY

Several factors has contributed currently in our society for the excessive concern with image and body aesthetics’. This study aims to present information about bigorexia and identify if in bodybuilding athletes in the state of Goiás (Brazil) this disorder is present. For this we chose for a case study which nine athletes volunteered to answer a survey. The survey’s responses have a importance that produce a total score for the identification of bigorexia evidences. After the data analysis was found that the athletes are in risk group that present strong evidences to the disorder. It is important to highlight the sport goals and their gathered lifestyle takes them to present some bigorexia disorder characteristics.Downloads
