THINKINGING OF THE OTHER: A REFLECTION IN REGARDS TO THE IMMIGRANT IN THE NATIONAL CONTEXT FROM A HABERMASIAN PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

This study utilizes an interdisciplinary approach - political, legal and philosophical - about the situation of migrants in national contexts proposed as a dialogue with the Jürgen Habermas’ contributions. The importance of this analysis lies in the fact that the contradictory aspects of nationalforeigner relations are little explored, especially in former colonies that have considerable portion of its population as immigrants and there descendants while adopting anti-immigration stances. We discuss the situation of the nationals as it pertains to internationals from the position of the nation-states. Thus, we address national immigration policies from Brazil in the cases of refugees. Even more we question the political and cultural aspects and in the end we offer some considerations. The text was produced by analyzing the works and concepts relevant to the topic, therefore literature review and qualitative analysis.
