The present study investigated the use of associative verbal expressions, such as figures of speech, as a strategy for teaching technical judo actions to children aged 5 to 12, with the aim of facilitating the understanding and execution of complex movements. The research is justified by the need to adapt the technical teaching of judo to children, overcoming linguistic and cognitive barriers through metaphors and analogies that help in the internalization of motor actions. To this end, a literature review study was conducted. Data were collected from academic databases such as Scielo, PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar and books, using descriptors such as “motor learning”, “children's judo”, “motor metaphors”, “fighting teaching”, “neuroscience and movement” and “verbal instruction in sports”.
