Resumo

A educação tem um papel fundamental na formação dos sujeitos, criando possibilidades de apropriação crítica e criativa dos discursos da mídia e dos recursos tecnológicos em si. Nessa perspectiva, o presente artigo apresenta os resultados de uma intervenção realizada em uma escola pública na cidade de Goiânia-Go com alunos do 8º ano do ensino fundamental. O objetivo foi dar ênfase às linguagens das mídias impressa, TV e vídeo como ferramentas pedagógicas na disciplina de Educação Física, debatendo as concepções de corpo e beleza veiculadas pelas mídias. O trabalho teve como referencial teórico Freire (1988, 1984) e Betti (2003). Ao final da intervenção, os resultados demonstraram que a Educação Física, pensada a partir das mídias, também pode ser associada ao desenvolvimento de uma consciência crítica privilegiando a capacidade de leitura consciente do mundo.
